Abstract

This study aims to describe Foso Rumages Um Banua as a reconstruction
model for informal education rooted in local wisdom. This tradition, also
known as the Thanksgiving tradition, is an indigenous practice of the
Minahasa people in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research was conducted
in Minahasa Selatan, an area where this tradition is actively practiced
annually. A qualitative research methodology was employed, utilizing
observation, interviews, and document collection techniques to gather data
related to the Thanksgiving tradition. The collected data was analyzed
through data reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal
that Foso Rumages Um Banua serves as a local wisdom that supports a
reconstruction model for informal education. Embedded within this tradition
are values of communal harmony, cultural representation, and
environmental protection. These values, expressed through acts of
thanksgiving, embody educational principles that should be passed down
through generations
